Czechia in the spotlight at Europe Day in Bratislava
CzechTourism's foreign representation in Slovakia presented itself at the Europe Day in Bratislava's Old Market Hall at the beginning of May - alongside foreign cultural institutes and embassies of EU countries. The joint stand attracted hundreds of children, teenagers and adult travellers. For the patient Czech-Slovak memory game players, travel pillows, neckerchiefs and other practical travel gifts were prepared on site. World Tourism Forum 2025 has started in Prague
A number of experts from public administration, government institutions and the private sector from all over the world will be present at the event focused on innovation, development of startups and new technologies in tourism. It was personally opened in Prague by UN Tourism Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili and Minister of Regional Development Petr Kulhánek. Whether alone, with a daughter or in a group of friends, women are nowadays among the "movers and shakers" of tourism. They make up more than 64% of the world's travellers and are behind 82% of all travel decisions. And the upcoming Mother's Day (May 11) is a good opportunity to remind ourselves of the crucial role women play in tourism and how domestic and inbound tourism in Czechia is responding to their changing travel habits. Interest in Czechia continues, during the first quarter of this year the number of visitors and overnight stays increased
During the first quarter of this year, a total of 4.1 million guests came to domestic hotels, guesthouses and other mass accommodation facilities. Almost 53% (2 177 thousand) were domestic tourists, while 47.5% (1 970 thousand) were visitors from abroad. Domestic visitors from neighbouring countries (Germany 453 thousand), Poland (180 thousand) and Slovakia (163 thousand) chose the Czech Republic as their holiday destination most often during January-March 2025. Tourists from Great Britain (131 thousand) and Italy (113 thousand) also arrived in larger numbers. The number of foreign visitors who stayed in one of the mass accommodation establishments increased by 1.86% year-on-year, while the number of domestic guests increased by 1.07%. The number of overnight stays also increased year-on-year (by 0.59%) to a total of 10.5 million nights. Read more…
Spa season 2025 in Czechia begins
Last year, a total of 965 thousand guests visited Czech spa accommodation facilities (LUZ). Almost 56% of them (543 thousand) were domestic visitors, who mostly went to the Karlovy Vary, Zlín, Olomouc and South Bohemia regions. Foreigners came to domestic spas 421 thousand, with the vast majority - almost 408 thousand - going to the Karlovy Vary Region. And the interest in the Czech spa industry continues this year. Active relaxation in Czechia: the CzechTourism agency has launched a new global campaign
To surprise, inspire and show Czechia as an ideal destination for active holidays and relaxation. This is the aim of the spring global campaign Unexpected Wellbeing, which has just been launched in selected countries by the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism. It focuses on an attractive combination of sports activities, spa and relaxation. The campaign will run until the end of June.
