Tourism is one of the important sources of income that would otherwise be missing in the place. 60% of residents from tourist-frequented areas think this. Most of them (90%) perceive tourism positively (32%) or neutrally (58%). They also say that it influences for the good interpersonal relationships and cultural and moral values. It follows from the analysis of the Institute of Tourism of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.
According to 80% of the interviewees of the tourists most sought-after locations, the standard of living in the given area is improving or is at a good level thanks to tourism. For the above mentioned reasons, many residents (43%) would like local governments (regions, cities and municipalities) to support tourism as much as possible. At the same time, they also perceive problematic factors of greater interest, most often they consider higher prices as one of the them, the impact on nature or more intensive traffic associated with limited parking options.

"We try to help tourism in all aspects. That is why, among other things, we are solving the GDS digital project, i.e. a global system for distribution of tourism experiences and services. Through this system, a tourist could, for example, remotely find current free parking spaces or book experiences and services before arriving at the trip or vacation destination," says Jan Herget, Director of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.

Other advantages of the upcoming digital project describes Petr Moc, Head of the Web Portals Content and Development Department of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism: "The GDS system will help not only the visitors themselves, but also professionals in the tourist industry and the sector as such. Because of the planned connection of GDS to our Kudy z nudy portal, which is one of the most used websites for planning trips and holidays in the Czech Republic, the offers of smaller entrepreneurs or less known locations will become more visible. The system should also provide tools that will help improve tourist management in the Czech Republic."

Travelling outside the high season, which is usually from spring to October in Europe's most visited cities, can also play a significant positive role. Outside of this period, there are fewer travellers in those destinations and prices are lower too. The sustainability of tourism is also supported by rural tourism, volunteering, purchasing regional products, etc.
