After Olomouc, Pilsen or this year's Karlovy Vary, will also Brno host the Czech Republic Travel Trade Day, a platform for business dealings between Czech entrepreneurs, regions and other entities active in the field of tourism with international buyers. The event is organized by CzechTourism together with the Tourist Authority South Moravia and the city of Brno, which was confirmed by the Brno councillors today through the memorandum´s approval.
"We continue with our resolution to bring one significant event from tourism to Brno every year and with it dozens of international participants who will spend several days filled with a rich experience program in Brno. The efforts made are then returned to us either in the form of promotion, as was the case at last year's meeting of the Association of French Journalists focused on tourism or this year's conference of European bloggers and influencers Traverse, or directly in the business sphere in the interest of travel agencies and other entrepreneurs," explained Mayor of the City of Brno Markéta Vaňková.
"Brno and South Moravia have a clear strategy and vision. They want to use tourism as one of the basic pillars of local economy and the quality of life of their residents. Last year we presented the region to a hundred French journalists, and this September we welcomed three hundred influencers from all over the world at the Traverse 22 conference. Czech Republic Travel Trade Day aims to transform this huge media reach into real tourists who will come to Brno and South Moravia and will spend their money here. Brno and South Moravia have the potential to become a key destination for Czechia, like Prague," says Jan Herget, Director of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.
Next year, Czech Republic Travel Day will take place on Monday and Tuesday, April 24 and 25. Participants in the so-called pre tours will arrive in South Moravia and Brno already on the Friday before so that they can spend the weekend networking and getting to know the location. This part of the program will be in charge of the Marketing and Tourism Office of the Municipality of the City of Brno together with the Tourist Authority South Moravia. The estimated costs of the city for organizing the program and Monday's gala evening as the culmination of the entire event are approximately 1 million crowns.
"In Brno, the program includes both a presentation of traditional tourist destinations, such as our four villas, as well as new attractions such as water reservoirs on the Yellow Hill. We also want to guide guests through our great gastronomic and bar scene to make their experience complete. We expect the event to be attended by approximately 80 foreign buyers, 15-20 foreign journalists and other guests, as well as 100 Czech entities such as hotels, regions, incoming travel agencies etc," outlined Markéta Vaňková.
Czech Republic Travel Trade Day has been organized by CzechTourism since 2016 (interrupted in 2020 and 2021 due to covid). It includes B2B workshops, on which the agency invites buyers from all over the world, as well as support for direct cooperation between Czech entrepreneurs, regions and partners with directors of foreign representations (presentation of new products and their possibilities for foreign markets, mutual synergy in tourism business). The event with significant international participation pursues two main goals: to contribute to the development of the business activities of Czech entrepreneurs and to promote the Czech Republic's rich tourist offer, which is why it focuses on a different region each year.
