Compared to pre-Covid October in 2019, there were 8% fewer hotel guests.
The largest number represents Germans who have come the most to the Czech Republic this October, namely 192,000. Compared to 2019, this means an increase of 5%. That was followed by 61,000 Slovaks (+22% compared to October 2019) and 44,000 Poles (+24% compared to October 2019). Then, 37,000 Americans (-34% compared to October 2019) and 28,000 residents of Great Britain (-29% compared to October 2019) came to Czechia. 646,000 domestic tourists stayed in hotels in the Czech Republic in October (year-on-year
-4% and compared to October 2019 +21%).

"If we compare the usage of hotels in the Czech Republic this October with the situation before the covid-19 pandemic, it is clear that even though the number of foreign guests increased by 66% year-on-year, we´re still not at pre-covid numbers. Compared to the tenth month in 2019, there were 25% fewer guests from abroad. Domestic tourism is still driven by residents, compared to October three years ago there were 21% more of them this year," says Director of the Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism Jan Herget and adds: "To support the arrival of foreign tourists this year and next year is helping, among other things, winter online campaign intended for nine foreign markets. It focuses primarily on mountains and wellness (ski slopes, winter fun, wellness), Christmas markets, winter cities (culture, gastronomy) and Valentine's Day."

To visit the Czech Republic are newly inviting foreign travellers Czech snowboarder and alpine skier, multiple Olympic winner and world champion Ester Ledecká, Czech football legend Petr Čech and Olympic speed skating champion Martina Sáblíková on social networks.

"We also have spots with our sports personalities in Czech, of course. According to the recent survey Plans of Czechs for a winter vacation, 47% of residents are planning to spend their winter holiday in Czechia. They most often want to rest and do light sports, 22% of people are planning an active holiday with sports. Czech people mostly want to do hiking, light walks, but they are also going to ski and cross-country ski," says Veronika Janečková, Director of the Product Management and Regional Cooperation Department of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.
