Hunger for travel in the Anglo-Saxon market is after the covid-19 pandemic great. Both Americans and British want to make more trips than last year, most of them even two or more. These visitors are thus growing in importance for Czech tourist industry. In 2019, Americans made up the fifth group of the most frequent foreign tourists, last year they moved to fourth place in the imaginary ranking. Likewise, Czechia is visited more by the British, who have moved from the seventh to fifth place. This and other information was presented at an online export workshop organized by the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.
Surveys show that residents of the United States and the United Kingdom want to travel more because getting to know other countries has been impossible for a long time due to the covid-19 pandemic. They are now very looking forward to travelling and really appreciate the opportunity to go abroad again. More than half of the British travel mainly around Europe. Americans most often go on vacation to Mexico and Canada, but 18 million of them still fly to the European continent every year. After the covid period, they want to spend more on travel than before it.

Pandemic situation has changed not only the view on travel, but also travel planning. Most British people are currently looking for quality travel insurance, Americans consider booking flexibility and a guarantee of reimbursement of expenses as essential. The new trend is an emphasis on sustainability and an interest in destinations supporting local communities and offering authentic cultures’ experiences. More than half of American and British tourists look for sustainable options of their holiday when choosing one. The impact of travel on the environment is especially taken account of younger people under the age of 45 when planning their vacation. 74% of respondents would prefer to stay in facilities which support local residents and are environmentally friendly, even at a cost of more expensive stay than they planned originally.

The restart of tourism and the British desire to travel is also confirmed by the renewed conference for digital content creators about travelling Traverse 2022. Last year's edition was already the ninth and took place in September in Brno. "I am very looking forward to the results of the biggest online travel content event in Europe, Traverse 2022, which we co-organized," says Director of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism Jan Herget and adds: "Together with the city and the South Moravian Tourism Authority, we prepared for more than 300 bloggers, influencers and YouTubers a week full of unique experiences. The conference itself was also accompanied by sightseeing tours to Czech regions. Media outputs and the overall reach for promotion of our country abroad can thus be expected to be really big." The Czech Republic also received an award for this event, Traverse creators awards. According to creators of digital travel content, CzechTourism is the best company for collaboration in the tourist industry.

Export workshops target specifics of those markets where CzechTourism has foreign representations (FR). It is the directors of FR who lead the seminars. They are held regularly throughout the year, a total of eight working meetings took place last year. "Last year's series of export workshops started a meeting of Polish and Slovak markets, followed by Benelux and Scandinavia. Then Italy and France were introduced, Spain together with Latin America came afterwards. These were followed by Germany with Austria, Korea, Japan and China. The penultimate meeting focused on the United States and the United Kingdom, and the series finished with the source market of the Middle East together with India," says František Reismüller, Director of the Marketing and Foreign Representations Department of the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism.
