Until the end of March, domestic tourism entrepreneurs and destination management organisations can apply for the Czechia Travel Trade Day. One of the largest domestic events to promote inbound tourism will take place on 24 and 25 April in Brno under the auspices and with the participation of the Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš.
The Czechia Travel Trade Day, which has been held in the past in Karlovy Vary, Czech Budejovice, Libertz, Plzeň and Olomouc, means two days of intensive international trade negotiations. It also includes sightseeing tours of the South Moravia region for foreign travel agents.
„We are cooperating intensively with the South Moravia Tourism Authority and the city of Brno on the preparation of the 6th edition of the Czechia Travel Trade Day. The main goal is to promote the rich tourist offer of Czechia in the regions and to contribute to the development of inbound tourism,“ says Jan Herget, Director of the Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism and adds: "Registration is open until the end of March here."
„For the participants of the Czechia Travel Trade Day we are preparing a program culminating with a gala evening on Monday. Guests will get to know not only traditional tourist destinations in the city centre, but also, for example, the newly opened and absolutely unique water reservoirs on the Yellow Hill or Mendel's greenhouse and, of course, the famous Brno gastroscene,“ says Mayor of the Statutory City of Brno Markéta Vaňková and adds: „We participate in the Czechia Travel Trade Day both organizationally and financially, as we did last year at the Traverse 22 conference for digital content creators or a year earlier at the meeting of the Association of French Tourism Journalists. We believe that these investments have a high potential to attract new tourists to Brno, thanks to the participation of journalists and buyers from all over the world, who will bring Brno to wider awareness.“
Monday's event will be preceded by demonstration tours of South Moravia. In 2 days, 4 groups of buyers and journalists will get to know the greatest gems, gastronomy, wine tourism and much more in order to include the destination in their offer.
"After Prague, tourists from abroad and Czechia have long been most interested in the South Moravian Region. We are happy about this, we support this interest and want to develop it further, says Governor of the South Moravian Region Jan Grolich and adds: "We want to guide visitors through the most interesting, but also neglected places of the region, so that the visitor traffic is dispersed to other regions. Tourists who buy the card will get experiences and admissions at a discounted price or even for free. The project offers partners the opportunity to increase their visibility through joint promotion. The Tourism Centre – South Moravia is working on it."
The directors of CzechTourism's foreign offices will also be present in Brno. They will provide consultations on the current situation in tourism in individual countries, including tips on business opportunities, information on cultural dimensions or what tourists from that part of the world are like and prefer. The positive news is that the number of tourists in the country is gradually increasing after the covid-19 pandemic, with 19.5 million travellers last year, a 71% increase year-on-year. Tourism in Czechia was driven by residents, with 12.1 million travelling here last year. There were about 7.4 million foreign visitors.
„Tourists are also returning to Czechia thanks to events such as the Czechia Travel Trade Day. That is why every year, always in a different region, in cooperation with regions, cities and destination agencies, we try to prepare an original programme and promote interest in TTD and Czechia as much as possible. Every year the event does not lack new markets, so this year we can look forward to new buyers from Lithuania and Ireland, says Veronika Janečková, Director of Product Management, Research and B2B Cooperation Department of the CzechTourism Authority – CzechTourism and concludes: "Last year's TTD in Karlovy Vary, which brought together over 200 people from 23 countries, more and more people around the world started talking about Czechia. Thanks to this event, foreign travel agencies started to offer Czechia in new ways or directly expanded their existing offer with new places in our country. We are currently doing everything we can to make sure that the April event in Brno will be at least as successful."
