The Discover Czechia Roadshow in four South Korean cities has been prepared by the Czech Tourism Authority - CzechTourism. The Bohemian Rhapsody campaign has also started. The aim is to support Czech entrepreneurs and help with the return of tourists from East Asia. Korean Air is launching a direct flight from Prague to Seoul next week. The inaugural flight from Prague Airport will take place on Monday 27 March.
The Roadshow was timed for the period just before the resumption of direct air links to help increase the interest of South Koreans in travelling to Czechia and in traditional Czech products. It was attended by representatives of Prague City Tourism or the Crystal Valley in Liberec Region. There were also representatives of travel agencies such as Liberty International, Kompas, Euroscop – Golden Prague or DIR Bohemia or hotel operators such as Four Seasons Prague, Jan Hotels, CPI group or Mozart hotel Prague.

„We organized the Discover Czechia Roadshow from March 10 to 17 in four most important South Korean cities Daeg, Gwangj, Busan and Seoul. For 17 Czech companies we prepared two workshops with Korean partners. The event was attended by the Czech Ambassador Gustav Slamečka, Vice President of Korean Air and the leaders of the main travel agencies and tour operators in South Korea, such as Yellow Balloon Tour, Very Good Tour and Naeil Tour. A big thank you for the successful event goes to Michal Procházka, director of our foreign representation in South Korea, says Director of the Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism Jan Herget  and adds: "In the fourth quarter of last year, we received only 20% of guests from South Korea compared to the situation before the pandemic of covid-19. For the return of travellers from East Asia, the launch of direct flights to Prague and Seoul is absolutely crucial.“

From 27 March 2023, Korean Air is scheduled to start direct flights between
Czechia
and South Korea three times a week, and even four times a week during the peak season. According to Prague Airport, the resumption of the long-distance connection is one of its highest priorities.

„This is an important milestone not only on the road to resuming operations and returning to 2019 numbers, but also in building a network of direct routes to Asia. Korea is one of the markets with the highest demand from the Asian region,"
says Prague Airport Chairman Jiří Pos.

The return of tourists to Czechia  will also be supported by the Bohemian Rhapsody campaign launched this week by Korean Air in cooperation with CzechTourism, Prague Airport and Prague City Tourism. South Koreans will learn about culture in Czechia, Prague rooftops, Czech glass, tips on gastronomic experiences and Prague castle accommodation. There is also information about the Crystal Valley in the Liberec Region or Pilsen. All this with the opportunity to get until May 20 this year Prague – Seoul air tickets with a 5% discount, discounts on the Prague Visitors Pass or selected services for tourists with benefits. And one lucky winner will win a ticket with Korean Air to the whole world.

Together with Prague Airport and CzechTourism agency, we have been coordinating marketing activities for the last few months so that we could once again welcome tourists from Asia, who have been missing in the capital for the last two years. As part of our marketing activities, we have also established cooperation with Korean influencers who will arrive on the first inaugural flight, and through them we will introduce the Prague Visitor Pass to the local audience, for example,"
concludesChairman of the Board of Directors of Prague City Tourism František Cipro.

The entire roadshow in South Korea was financed by the PROPED economic diplomacy project, which was implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
