Last year, the most tourists in the last 11 years came to the Hradec Králové Region. In total, more than 1.5 million people visited the region, 80% of them were residents and one fifth were foreign travellers. In a national comparison, the region is the fourth most visited after Prague, South Moravia and South Bohemia. The latest data shows that tourism is gaining momentum and is reaching pre-covid numbers. The biggest inbound event in Czechia - Czechia Travel Trade Day 2024, which has just kicked off in Hradec Králové - is helping to boost, especially foreign visitors. It is organised by CzechTourism in cooperation with the Hradec Králové Regional Tourism Centre, the Hradec Králové Region and the Statutory City of Hradec Králové.
The TTD is one of the largest domestic events to support incoming. It aims to promote the rich tourist offer of Czechia in the regions and contribute to the development of inbound tourism. It is designed as a two-day event full of pre-arranged meetings and working sessions during which representatives of foreign travel agencies meet with Czech tourism entrepreneurs. It also includes sightseeing trips around the Hradec Králové Region for representatives of foreign travel agencies.

"The largest domestic workshop to promote arrivals to Czechia shows the whole world that visiting our country is definitely worthwhile and that we have a lot to offer tourists. I am glad that we have managed to prepare an event that is big and significant not only in terms of the number of participants, but above all in terms of what the negotiations between these actors can bring to tourism in Czechia in the future. Eighty foreign participants, 13 foreign journalists and about a hundred representatives of Czech inbound travel agencies, hotels, destination management and other tourism service providers arrived at this year's TTD,“ says Director of Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism František Reismüller.

Before the participants sat down for joint meetings, they took a sightseeing tour of the region on 26 – 28 April. For example, they went to the Kladsko Borderlands, the Broumov-Adršpach Rocks, the Kuks Hospital, the Orlické Mountains and Vamberk. In the Giant Mountains they visited Pec pod Sněžkou, Jánské lázně or Špindlerův Mlýn, in the Bohemian Paradise and Podkrkonoší they visited Jičín, Prachov Rocks, Dětenice or Lázně Bělohrad. Information about all the places is also available on one of the largest tourist portals Kudy z nudy.cz.

Foreign buyers got a unique opportunity to get to know our region. We have prepared a weekend sightseeing trip for them, whose participants could choose in advance from four offered routes. They showed great interest in the Broumov region, we also introduced them to the phenomenon of Podorlicko, namely the Chateaux on the Orlice River aptly referred to as the Czech Loire, the Prachov Rocks and the Bohemian Paradise, as well as the Krkonoše Mountains,“ adds Martin Soukup, director of the Hradec Králové Regional Tourism Centre, which provides marketing and destination management for the region in the field of tourism development.

This year, of course, there was also a tour of the venue – Hradec Králové and its surroundings.

Hradec Králové is a dominant East Bohemian metropolis where everyone can find their own place. Travelers who visit us have a variety of opportunities to educate themselves, have fun, relax or just spend their free time in a pleasant environment without a specific intention. In addition to a number of parks and cycle paths, one of the most popular recreational locations are the Hradec Králové city forests and the Stříbrný rybník camp and its surroundings. Hradec Králové's architecture also offers an exceptional experience, including the most significant monuments and buildings that were built in the studios of architects Gočár and Kotěra. There are a lot of possibilities, which is why we are very happy for the opportunity to host this international meeting in our city and to present our city. We believe that thanks to this event we will be able to attract as many foreign tourists to Hradec Králové as possible,“ emphasizes the mayor of Hradec Králové Pavlína Springerová.

The organizers choose the destinations in which Czechia Travel Trade Day takes place in order to present Czechia to the participants in a comprehensive way. In the past, TTD has been held in Brno, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice, Liberec, Plzeň and Olomouc.

I am delighted that the regional headquarters succeeded with its application and managed to bring this key event for Czech entrepreneurs and international travel agency owners to the Hradec Králové Region. It is a great opportunity for us to present and promote the region and to strengthen the overall awareness of our region also abroad, because we have a lot to offer in the field of tourism,“ says Martina Berdychová, Deputy Governor of the Hradec Králové Region for Tourism and Culture.

Hradec Králové and the entire Hradecko region offers a wide range of cultural and experiential palette. We strive to provide long term and targeted support to entrepreneurs and organizers of cultural events ranging from music to art to gastronomic experiences, sporting events, and events accentuating monuments and history in the entire region. In addition to this, we have a number of cultural institutions, which regularly offer an attractive program in both traditional and modern concepts. Czechia Travel Trade Day is a great opportunity for us to present the wide range of our city and at the same time invite all tourists not to hesitate to visit our Hradec during their visit to Czechia,“ adds Ilona Dvořáková, Deputy for Culture and Tourism of the City of Hradec Králové.

The increase in interest in individual regions is also significantly helped by the so-called MICE, i.e. congress tourism. It plays a significant role in the tourism industry.

Its potential lies mainly in the fact that it sustains tourism even in the off-season. In addition, the convention tourist spends at least 2.5 times more in destinations than the average traveller. He spreads the good name of the place where he attended the meeting abroad and also often returns after a business trip for a leisure stay. Moreover, Czechia is one of the most popular convention destinations in the world. And, for example, in Germany, companies there consider Czechia to be the most attractive European country in terms of holding congresses, conferences, trade fairs or exhibitions and incentive events for employees,“ says Veronika Janečková, Director of Product Management, Research and B2B Cooperation of Czech Tourist Authority.

The congress potential in the Hradec Králové Region is also significant. The conference capacity of this region is almost 43 thousand people, who are waiting for nearly 55 thousand beds in 3*– 4* category accommodation facilities. Over a hundred unique spaces are available in the region. Each of them can accommodate 50 or more participants of MICE events for joint meetings.
