CzechTourism Slovakia joined the worldwide launch of Dan Brown's new novel, published on the Slovak book market under the title Posledné tajemstvo. In cooperation with the IKAR publishing house, it took part in the opening ceremony at the Panta Rhei bookstore in Bratislava's Eurovea shopping centre. In addition, it has prepared exclusive prizes for the winners of the competition associated with the book launch, which runs until mid-January 2026.

"It is not every day that a world-famous and sought-after writer openly and happily promotes Czechia. A few years ago, British writer Simon Mawer showed this when his novel The Glass Room drew the attention of readers from all over the world to Brno, specifically to Villa Tugendhat. Dan Brown is currently doing so with Prague in his new book. And the space he gives it is truly royal. The thrilling seven-hundred-page story guides the reader through Prague's famous landmarks, but also through sites that have not yet been popular with tourists, bars and galleries, parks and the Prague underground. That is why we welcomed the opportunity to become an official partner of IKAR publishing house in promoting The Last Secret and as a cherry on the cake we prepared interesting prizes for competitions related to the book promotion. Lovers of Prague will be able to enjoy it in a new light when they follow the footsteps of Robert Langdon and his adventures in the Prague scenery," says Nora Gill, Director of CzechTourism Slovakia.

At the beginning of September, the Slovak representation of CzechTourism was present at the global launch of the new novel by American author Dan Brown on the Slovak book market. In Bratislava's famous Eurovea shopping centre, fresh brownies and chilled prosecco were served in the Panta Rhei bookstore on the day of its release. Young men in cassock hoods added to the atmosphere of mystery. The first visitors took away a bookmark published by Prague City Tourism along with the book they came to buy, as well as various promotional materials about Prague walks and maps of Prague from the CzechTourism thematic stand.

Slovak media in Prague
Another activity linked to the launch of the new book was sending Slovak journalists to an international press conference with Dan Brown in Prague, which took place in the Mirror Chapel of the Clementinum. Katarína Sedláková from daily Pravda was able to ask the author one question exclusively. This is how she describes the situation in her article:
"I'll come forward and ask him, since he has visited so many Prague cities, if he has also read Czech writers and who are his favorites. I'm curious if he'll choose Franz Kafka, whom he briefly mentioned in the book, or perhaps he'll think of Jaroslav Hašek with his famous soldier Svejk, Karel Čapek, Jan Neruda, Bohumil Hrabal, Milan Kundera or Václav Havel. Or had he heard of the poet Jaroslav Seifert or, among women, of Božena Němcová? No, the American answers without blinking an eye.

The Prague programme for journalists included participation in a debate in the Lucerna and a walk in the footsteps of Dan Brown, which is a novelty in the offer of Prague City Tourism. For the thematic walk, the editors of the Pravda and SME newspapers were joined by the editor and cameraman of the commercial Slovak TV JOJ.

Thanks to this press trip, unique materials covering details from the process of the book's creation and from direct contact with the author, his editor-in-chief Jason Kaufman and other important people from the author's close circle were published in the Slovak  media with high visibility .

Exclusive Contest Prizes
Currently – until mid-January 2026 – readers and fans of Dan Brown's novels in Slovakia are competing for the grand prize provided by CzechTourism Slovakia together with IKAR Publishing. The winner will enjoy an attractive weekend stay at the Majestic Plaza Hotel in the centre of Prague for two people. In order to be entered into the competition, prepared by IKAR publishing house, you need to fill in an eight-question questionnaire, which will reveal Dan Brown's school nickname at the end.

CzechTourism Slovakia will also reward the first place winner with a voucher for a themed walk in the footsteps of Dan Brown from Prague City Tourism and a Prague visitor card. The lucky second place winner will also receive a themed walk in the footsteps of Dan Brown.

The competition will close in mid-January and the draw will take place on 20 January 2026. Information about the competition, its terms and conditions and prizes is available on the publisher's specially set up website and is also present on the publisher's and CzechTourism Slovakia's social media channels.

The second competition with CzechTourism will take place later this autumn on social media and the website of the news television TA3. The winner of this competition can also enjoy a luxury stay at the five-star hotel The Julius on Senovážné Square in the heart of the capital. The competition will be presented by Nora Gill in person in a live broadcast on TA3.

Prague, the city of literature
"Dan Brown's latest book is an event with huge potential to raise the profile of Czechia in the world. Prague has found itself on the pages of a global bestseller and readers will want to experience the atmosphere of the story for themselves," says František Reismüller, director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.

Besides Professor Langdon and Katherine Solomon, Prague is also an important character in the story. The author himself describes the book as his love letter to this city. The story takes the reader to its iconic but also lesser-known places. And quite certainly, after reading it, visitors will see it with new eyes.

Everything will resonate next year, when Czechia will be a guest at the Frankfurt Book Fair and Prague will be promoted as a city of literature. In addition, he will star in a planned series adaptation of Brown's book, which has already been announced by Netflix.
