„I think our candidacy is very complex, thanks to the composition of the working group we can coordinate different areas so that they complement each other and the resulting effect will be the greatest and most positive for both the Czech Republic and the Tour de France as a legendary race. We have prepared stage designs including technical parameters, we have focused on close links with tourism and in addition, Czechia boasts a deep cycling tradition, incredible natural and architectural scenery,“ revealed Chairman of the National Sports Agency Ondřej Šebek.
This meeting was a follow-up to previous meetings that representatives of the A.S.O. and the Czech side have had over the past few months. In addition to the members of the group who attended the presentation directly in Paris, the members of the group include the governor of the South Bohemia Region Martin Kuba, vice chairman of the Czech Cycling Union Robert Kolář and Prague Councillor for Education, Sport and Leisure Antonín Klecanda.
„It's a great candidacy, very hilarious. Certainly the involvement of Roman Kreuziger as a prominent personality of the Tour is important and very beneficial. Prague is a beautiful city and thanks to what we saw during the presentation, we know that not only Prague is worth seeing. The Czech Republic has already shown that it can host big events and now it will be about evaluating the details for us, because of course more countries are trying to host,“ told the media Christian Prudhomme after his presentation.
„Czechia offers an exceptional combination of cultural richness, beautiful nature and experience in organizing major international events. The Tour de France is watched by billions of people in more than 190 countries, which is why we see this as an extraordinary opportunity to show the world what our country can do. Such a chance does not come often – and we want to take full advantage of it," adds Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism František Reismüller.
The working group will now continue technical and organizational consultations with A.S. The final decision on the organizing cities and dates should be clear in the coming years, with the announcement of the organizer for the 2029 edition planned for 2027.
„I would like to thank both my colleagues from the working group who did a great job in preparing the candidacy, as well as the Czech Embassy in Paris, which provided all the necessary facilities for the presentation and Mr. Ambassador personally supported and patronized our efforts. I believe that our candidacy is of such a high quality that it has a great chance to succeed," concluded Ondřej Šebek.
