The Argus Bike Festival, one of the most important cycling fairs in Central Europe, took place again this year on Vienna's Rathausplatz. Visitors were not deterred by the changeable weather - on the contrary, a high number of visitors came to the event and the event confirmed the long-term growing interest in cycling and active leisure.
Festival that combines cycling and travel
Every year, the Argus Bike Festival connects a wide range of stakeholders – from tourist centres and regions to cycling equipment manufacturers and active tourism service providers. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in cycling, test new products in the bicycle and e-bike segment and get inspiration for planning their holidays. Long-distance cycling routes, cross-border connections and the development of infrastructure for recreational and sport cycling were again to the fore.

Czechia as an ideal destination for active holidays
Czechia presented itself at the fair through the CzechTourism agency and in cooperation with the Living Region (Karlovy Vary Region), South Bohemia Tourism Centre and South Moravia Tourism Centre as an attractive destination for active holidays. Their representatives jointly presented Czechia as an attractive destination for active holidays. The key themes were in particular the quality network of marked cycling routes, good accessibility from Austria and the combination of cycling with other tourist products such as gastronomy, spa and exploring cultural heritage.

"Austrian visitors have long sought easily accessible border regions and quality long-distance routes connected to the international network. Among the most sought-after products are the Labská cesta and the international EuroVelo 9 route, which combine active movement with urban and nature exploration. This year, for the first time, we also actively presented the Mapy.com map portal on the Austrian market," summarises Markéta Valenta, Director of the CzechTourism Foreign Representation in Austria.

Key marketing activity in the Austrian market
Participation in the Argus Bike Festival is one of the key marketing activities of CzechTourism in Austria. Our southern neighbour has long been one of the most important source markets for inbound tourism to Czechia. Moreover, cycling represents a segment with high potential here – it encourages longer stays, interest in regions across the country and motivates Austrian tourists to make repeat visits.

Trends: sustainability, experiences and new locations
The presentation of the Czech regions also responded to current trends in tourism, where visitors are primarily looking for affordable holidays, authentic experiences and sustainable forms of transport.

In addition to the well-known routes, the Czech representatives also presented lesser-known locations with quality infrastructure and services for cyclists, which have the potential to further develop the offer of active holidays in the country.

The Argus Bike Festival thus confirmed its role as an important platform for the presentation of destinations and exchange of experience in the field of cycling and active tourism in 2026.
