Domestic spa towns come alive again with festivities, opening of springs, concerts and cultural festivals. Interest in the spa industry continues to grow. In 2025 alone, a total of 982,000 guests visited spa accommodation facilities in Czechia. There were 556 thousand domestic visitors, and over 426 thousand foreign visitors. The largest concentration of guests has traditionally been recorded in the Karlovy Vary Region, which remains the flagship of the Czech spa industry. Spring is one of the most attractive seasons, when spas present news, investments and a rich cultural programme.
Spa industry as a strong brand of Czechia
The spa industry is one of the most significant pillars of tourism in Czechia. It combines healthcare, prevention, relaxation and experiential tourism and significantly promotes visitors to regions across the country. At the same time, spa towns offer unique architecture, quality gastronomy, beautiful nature and a varied cultural life, making them attractive year-round destinations.

A total of 982,000 guests visited Czech spa accommodation facilities last year. More than 56% of them were domestic visitors, who mainly went to the Karlovarsky, Zlínsky, Olomoucky and Jihocesky regions. 426,000 guests came from abroad to domestic spas. The most frequent visitors were from Germany, Slovakia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Israel, while the European markets were dominated by Germans, Slovaks, Ukrainians and Poles. The Karlovy Vary Region has long remained the main centre of the Czech spa industry and the most popular destination for foreign guests. The Zlín, Ústecký and Středočeský regions follow with a greater distance. The spa attracts not only with its medical care, but also with its architecture, cultural programme and unique atmosphere.

„Last year once again confirmed that the Czech spa industry has an exceptionally strong position. Almost one million guests came to spa accommodation facilities, which is great news. The Karlovy Vary Region remains the clear leader, with nearly 700,000 visitors last year, more than half of all guests to Czech spas. This is also where people spent over 3.3 million nights, which represents more than half of all overnight stays in domestic spas. In the case of foreign clientele, the dominance of Karlovy Vary is even more pronounced – the vast majority of foreign spa stays are directed here, and last year alone, foreign visitors spent 95.5% of the total number of nights in Czech spas here," says Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism František Reismüller and adds: „
