A ride on a narrow-gauge train through Czech Canada, a stroll through Český Krumlov, the atmosphere of the Prachov Rocks, an unforgettable view of Dlouhé stráně, a historic tram in Prague, a taste of modern Czech cuisine, or perhaps baking bread at an open-air museum. These are just a few of the experiences that 38 online content creators from Spain and Latin America took home with them from Czechia. In the second half of June, they participated in the fourth annual Meeting Point DestinoChequia project, organized as part of the PROPED project by the CzechTourism Foreign Representative Office for Spain and Latin America in cooperation with regional tourism offices, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brazil, and other partners. Their photos, videos, and stories will inspire millions of people in the coming months as they plan their vacations in the heart of Europe.
Social Media as Travel Inspiration
In just one week, influencers from Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Peru traveled through a large part of Czechia. They sampled both traditional and modern Czech cuisine, visited festivals, castles, a glassworks, and the oldest paper mill in Central Europe, and took rides on a historic tram and a steam train. But the most valuable things they’re taking home aren’t in their suitcases. It’s the hundreds of photos, videos, and authentic stories they’re gradually posting on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other digital platforms. Today, these are among the most important sources of inspiration for travel planning.
“Personal experience and authentic recommendations are among the most effective ways to introduce Czechia to foreign visitors today. When content creators share their experiences with millions of followers, it’s not just attractive advertising. These are trustworthy recommendations that can inspire people to visit places they hadn’t even considered before. That is precisely why collaboration with influencers, bloggers, and the media is an important part of our long-term strategy for promoting Czechia abroad. At the same time, it helps us show that our country offers much more than just well-known landmarks – from stunning natural beauty to world-class cuisine, unique traditions, and authentic regional experiences,“ says František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.
Prague is just the beginning. The real surprises await in the regions
This year’s edition of the Meeting Point DestinoChequia project kicked off in Prague, from where participants then set off for four different parts of Czechia.
“This is the fourth time we’ve organized Meeting Point DestinoChequia, and we’re delighted that interest in the project is growing every year. This year, 38 influencers and travel bloggers from six countries came to Czechia. In just one week, they got to know not only Prague but also four Czech regions, where they encountered local people, traditions, and experiences that the average visitor often misses. We consider the combination of well-known places with lesser-known regions to be one of the greatest strengths of the entire project,” explains the director of CzechTourism’s Foreign Representative for Latin America Petr Lutter.
“When selecting participants, we don’t just look at the number of followers. It’s important that they reach different groups of travelers and are active on multiple platforms. Although Instagram still dominates, TikTok and YouTube are also becoming increasingly important. We’re adapting our program accordingly. In addition to traditional tourist attractions, we also showcase nature, active vacations, modern gastronomy, technical landmarks, and local traditions. This is the kind of content audiences are looking for today, and thanks to it, they can discover Czechia from a completely different perspective. It is precisely this diversity of experiences that can set Czechia apart from other European destinations and inspire visitors to spend more time here and look forward to returning,” adds the director of CzechTourism’s Foreign Representative Office for Spain Markéta Lehečková.
From steam trains to Christmas decorations to MICHELIN
CzechTourism collaborated with regional partners to prepare the program. In Prague, participants not only took a classic tour of the Old Town, but also went on a bike ride and enjoyed a short concert at the Estates Theater, and historic trams to discover the city from a different perspective, sailed down the Vltava River, commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Dancing House, and also explored Vyšehrad and the riverfront. The regional section featured four themed routes, each offering a different perspective on Czechia.
The South Bohemian route led through Blatná, Zvíkov Castle, Strakonice, České Budějovice, Prachatice, Český Krumlov, Jindřichův Hradec and Červená Lhota Castle. At the Blatná Game Reserve, participants fed fallow deer, toured the castle with its owner, Stephanos-Philippos Germenis-Hildprandt, and finally enjoyed a nostalgic ride narrow-gauge train through "Czech Canada".
The second group explored the Olomouc Region. In Velké Losiny, they visited the oldest paper mill in Central Europe, then continued on to Sobotín Castle Resort, to Dlouhé Stráně Pumped-Storage Power Plant, to Kouty nad Desnou, Bouzov Castle.
The third route led through the Hradec Králové Region. It included the Prachov Rocks, Jičín, Kuks Hospital, Krňovice Open-Air Museum, Hradec Králové and Dětenice. In Dvůr Králové, travelers tried their hand at hand-painting Christmas ornaments; in Krňovice, they baked traditional bread; and in Dětenice, they experienced the atmosphere of medieval feasts.
The fourth group was the first to try out the Fly & Drive pilot program, which connected the Liberec Region. They visited Karlštejn Castle, the Rückl Glassworks, Liberec and Crystal Valley.
Czechia Through All the Senses
Gastronomy was also a significant part of the program. Participants sampled traditional Czech cuisine as well as its modern interpretations at restaurants Sůl a Řepa in Strakonice, Long Story Short Eatery & Bakery in Olomouc, and Šatlava in Hradec Králové. CzechTourism thus showcased establishments that represent contemporary Czech gastronomy and help raise the profile of the regions, including through the MICHELIN Guide for Czechia. These activities were complemented by visits to cultural events that gave them a taste of the lively atmosphere of Czech cities. Participants experienced Five-Petaled Rose Festival in Český Krumlov, the Olomouc (o)žije festival, and the Theater Festival in Hradec Králové.
“It was an amazing trip, mainly thanks to the people we met along the way. Thank you, Markéta, Petra, and the entire CzechTourism team for the excellent organization, professional approach, and above all for making us feel truly welcome the entire time. Experiences like this can’t be planned—they have to be lived,“ says one of the participants, Spanish traveler Sofía Pozuelo, reflecting on her week in Czechia.
Brazilian influencer Andrea Miramontes also takes home similar impressions: “Thank you to the entire CzechTourism team. I’m taking home not only beautiful photos and videos, but above all, many experiences that I’ll remember for a long time to come. I got to know a country that surprised me with its diversity, hospitality, and atmosphere.“
The results keep coming long after returning home
Posts, videos, and articles continue to be created gradually for several months after the trip ends. That’s why the true impact of this year’s event won’t be known until the fall. However, last year’s Meeting Point DestinoChequia demonstrated just how much potential this format has. Thirty-one participants created nearly 1,140 posts on social media and blogs, which recorded a total reach of over 21 million views. The output included more than 700 stories on Instagram, 70 videos on TikTok, over 30 videos on YouTube, and nearly fifty travel articles. Their content continues to inspire other travelers as they plan their vacations in Czechia.
This year’s edition was made possible thanks to financial support from the PROPED and in collaboration with Czech regions and other partners. The following organizations contributed to the preparation of the program: South Bohemian Tourism Authority, Olomouc Region Tourism Authority, and Central Moravia – Tourism Association, Hradec Králové Regional Tourism Authority, Hradecko Destination Management Organization, Central Bohemia Regional Tourism Headquarters, Liberec Region Tourism Headquarters and Prague City Tourism. The project was also supported by Barceló Hotel Group – Occidental Praha Five and Czech Inn Hotels – Grand Hotel Prague Towers. A big thank you for their cooperation also goes to Filip Vavřínka from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brazil.
