From November 1, 2022, a night spent in selected establishments in Bohemian Switzerland will cost tourist 300 CZK less. Furthermore, they will have free public transport throughout the Ústí Region. This is the framework of the action prepared by the Ústí Region in cooperation with the general benefit society České Švýcarsko and the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic to restore tourism in the region damaged by a large-scale fire.
The accommodation discount is valid when booking a stay of at least two nights and a maximum of seven nights. In case of the seven-night vacation, for example, a family of three will save a total of CZK 6,300. The discount can be easily applied directly when booking with the accommodation provider, with the help of a voucher that will be available on the website pomahej.ceskesvycarsko.cz from November 1. There will people also find a complete list of accommodation facilities that participated in the event. Each visitor can only use the benefit for one stay.
“As part of the accommodation vouchers project, we provide not only complete administrative support for accommodation providers, but also an information line for visitors. It has been in operation since November 1, every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the number +420 775 55 27 89. Tourism in the area is also to be revived by the ongoing marketing campaign that we launched on the Internet, radio, print media and billboards all over the Czech Republic,'' clarifies Jan Šmíd, Director of the public benefit society České Švýcarsko.
Free fare
But the benefits for travellers do not end there. All those staying in the destination for at least two nights can also use free public transport throughout the Ústí Region. They will receive a unique code from the accommodation provider, which, when inserted into the DÚKapka mobile application, will generate a free ticket.
“We´ve been focusing on sustainable tourism within the Ústí Region for a long time. With free transport, we´re trying to positively motivate visitors to leave their car at home or at the hotel and use the rich network of bus, train and boat transport in Bohemian Switzerland. Free transport fits perfectly into that,'' adds Jiří Válka, Head of the Tourism Department of the Ústí Region.
Help for entrepreneurs and service providers
According to a survey by CzechTourism, up to 53% of Czechs plan to spend their autumn vacation in the Czech Republic. Most of them aim for active rest, hiking and cycling. Thanks to the combination of diverse nature and quality visitor services, Bohemian Switzerland is an ideal choice. And tourists are more welcome here than ever before. The damage to the tourism industry caused by the fire was estimated at more than half a billion crowns. The victims mainly include accommodation providers, restaurant operators, experience agencies and other service providers. At the same time, money is lacking not only for entrepreneurs, but also in municipal budgets.
The unique event of the Ústí Region, together with the public benefit society České Švýcarsko and the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic, aims to support visitors' interest in the attractive area, which includes a national park and three protected landscape areas. The Ústí Region allocated 5 million CZK for accommodation vouchers, the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic promised to contribute the same amount.
Where to go and where to apply the benefits?
Among the biggest attractions of autumn Bohemian Switzerland is the reopened Pravčická gate, which tourists can go to in only one direction so far, and that is from Hřensko. It is now accessible daily between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. From November 7 until April of the following year, those interested will be able to admire it only from Friday to Sunday, always between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Families with children will be delighted by the visitor tours in Tiské stěny, one of the most beautiful rock towns in Czechia. There is no danger of boredom in the region even in case of bad weather. Tourists can visit the nearby castle in Děčín, relax in the Děčín water park or at the exhibition about nature of the national park in the House of Bohemian Switzerland in Krásná Lípa.
Wellness stays are also very popular every year in autumn. In the destination, travellers can choose from many high-quality hotels that offer a wide range of relaxation services. The most looked for are Hotel Ostrov, Wellness Hotel Zámeček or Lípa Resort.
