For the first time in its history, CzechTourism is announcing the Heroes of Tourism awards. By awarding the winners, the agency wants to point out the personalities and projects that help each area the most. Because tourism has been going through a very challenging period in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, this year's award is called COVID Avengers. Everyone can choose their tourism hero by voting online at this place.
Voting is possible until Friday, August 26. The awards have three categories: the fight for support of tourism, digitization and product development. The results of the first year will be announced at the networking evening, which will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Prague's art center Mánes. Minister for Regional Development and Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization Ivan Bartoš promised to participate at the event.

"Personalities and projects at the COVID Avengers awards are nominated by professional organizations operating in the tourism industry. The general public is now voting for the finalists online," says Jan Herget, Director of the Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism and adds: "Everyone can vote at https://www.czechtourism.cz/cs-CZ/hrdinove-cr until Friday, August 26. We would be glad if as many people as possible let us know who their hero of tourism is, who they consider to be the 2022 COVID Avenger.”

While the digitization category refers to projects that responded flexibly to touristic restrictions and thus helped to transfer tourist industry to the online world, products category concerns creation or development in response to change of consumers´ behavior. An individual who fought to raise awareness of the impact of the pandemic on tourism and mobilized help and support for the industry will also be recognized.

Personalities and projects for the COVID Avengers 2022 awards were nominated by the Association of Czech Travel Offices and Agencies, the Association of Golf Courses, the Association of Mountain Resorts, the Association of Non-State Open Monuments, A.T.I.C., the Czech Convention Bureau, the Czech Tourism Union, the National Wine Center, the Association of Medical Spas and the Association of Trade and Tourism.
