European destinations endorse Reykjavik Declaration: communities at the heart of the future of tourism
The European Travel Commission (ETC) presented the Reykjavik Declaration "Tourism for Europe, Europe for Tourism" at its 110th meeting in Iceland. The document, symbolically signed by ETC Director Eduardo Santander and Iceland Tourism CEO Arnar Már Ólafsson, calls on member countries to develop tourism that respects residents and visitors while protecting Europe's natural and cultural heritage. Accessible travel should not be the exception, but the standard. On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December), CzechTourism points out that accessibility is not just a phrase, but concrete work on the ground. The agency is implementing several activities in this regard - this year it has started mapping accessible places across Czechia, expanding education in the field of communication with people with disabilities and further promoting accessible tourism also through influencer and press trips. PAP apologised for misinformation about warnings against travel to Czechia. CzechTourism's initiative in Poland has led to a correction
The Polish news agency PAP has apologised for incorrect information according to which the Polish Foreign Ministry should have warned its citizens against travelling to Czechia due to the outbreak of hepatitis A. On the initiative of the CzechTourism Foreign Representation in Poland, the agency acknowledged the error and published a corrective article that clearly disputes the previous misinterpretation. Mountain resorts are ready for next season, but will be more active in speaking up to the state
Ski resorts in the Czech Republic continue to improve their services for customers and, in particular, invest in efficient technologies so that, even with the variability of weather and energy prices, they can offer winter sports and outdoor activities to the lovers of winter sports and skiing in the expected range and maximum quality. Approximately 30% of people in Czechia are active skiers/snowboarders.They come from all socio-demographic groups and more than 80% of them want to maintain or increase their level of skiing activity in the coming years. The Mountain Resorts Association now wants to emphasise the importance of resorts to the functioning of mountain regions and more actively promote the related agenda: the general functioning of tourism, permitting processes and sectoral issues (water management, state-managed land leases, etc.).
